  • @kwaso9 Do you have evidence to back this claim about primers?

  • I'm installing a salvaged windshield onto a 25 year old car and this is the first time I'm doing it. The used frit bar is going to be covered in butyl, and where its going to seat on the frame along the top windshield edge is nothing but rust. I removed all old butyl, I sanded down to bare metal, treated it with rust converter gel, painted it with rust converter primer. Now is urethane going to stick to rust painted in primer? No? So I'm covering it with a strip of fiberglass and resin.

  • Where are you located?

I am located here in Houston, TX

  • This is very true and serious. The platium installers are doing it very wrong. No wiper pull, Cowl removed, Body primed to prevent rust, and MOST OF ALL NO GLOVES when setting. Just crazy.A super duty should be about 5-6times longer. A soild alone install 45-60min some more some less. I used sika pro and sika move it. Great products 1hr drive times. Most people know nothing about it get your homework done sika essex work, make sure they are certified by the NGA National Glass Association

  • bleed out is when frit primer doesn't bond properly to the frit, it looks like an oily effect, like fish eyes in car paint, clean clea, and shake shake!!

  • DW 848/850 most relaxing to do!!!

  • Bleed Out is what the industry refers to when a layer of frit primer is applied to the W/S it resembles oil/water effect

appropriate scubbing/scouring pad and clean throughly!! If you see bleed out you should clean frit again and shake your products for the required amount of time, not just 3 shakes open the bottle and use!!

  • It is always to good to see the reputation of any windshield installer.
