@thejackadams: I hate to ask but does this or many other halls still use this silence buzzer? In my opinion, it is a great idea but a such an ugly and abrupt way to ruin the mood of any opening piece.

this arrangement is based on Jim Prime's arrangement for the 1985 Trooper's Drum and Bugle Corps... Randol Bass only copied and transcribed it... hack!

That's how the Japanese begin their concerts. It's like a warning to take your seat and be quiet. The concert is going to start. This was the opening number on the concert.
