Zoom H4n buttons, menus, and SD card

While the Zoom H4n digital audio recorder sounds better and is designed to be more rugged and easier to use than the Zoom H4, there's a major problem with the design of the SD card slot.

you won't be holding this in your hand while recording--you get too much handling noise. This is a non-issue.

Totally disagree about the card slot. You'd have to really WANT to eject it, or have some sort of convulsion while holding the unit. The untethered battery cover and lack of mic protection are more serious 'faults'. The H4n isn't perfect, but it is a helluva lot of bang for the buck.

hello Brad, how do you adjust the background noise on zoom h4n. I am having hard time figuring it out.. If possible can you show step by step in the menu.. Thanks

Question for all of you--is this THE sole 4-track unit this size out there? I know about the Edirol R4--a beast--but is this the only other? Another question--is there any chance of getting two inputs out of those onboard mic inputs--in the case one doesn't want to use them? Seems like it's not TRULY 4-track in that case--sort of 3.9 track, because you can't choose what to do with those two tracks. Still, what a great one! I'm selling my little 2-track.

I got this for our church and i got the card to come out by pressing the cover but

it took a lot of pressure to do it you have to intentionally do it there is no way its

coming out with out you pressing very hard i tried.

Instructions give no clue how to import a file into qbase then burn a cd- sorry I bought one- thumbs down.

I just posted a tutorial on how to dump your projects and tracks from the Zoom H4N to the computer using the Audacity freeware program.

I hope it will be useful to many beginners and pro users.
