Basiji militia attacks reformist Grand Ayatollah Youssef Sanei´s residence - Iran Qom 22 Dec 2009

22 December, 2009 around 1000 members of Iran's Basij militia and "plainclothes men" attacked offices of Sanei in Qom. The plainclothes militiamen broke the windows of Sanei's office and insulted him and his staff and also beat up his staff. They also put up posters of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, who has been a staunch defender of hardline. Police sided with the militia and prevented Saneis supporters from defending his office.

The Basij is a Islamic paramilitary volunteer militia. They have a local organization in almost every city in Iran.

The Basij are most notable for their loyalty to Khamenei.

The Basij have been fighting against the widespread protests which occurred following the 2009 Iranian presidential election and in the months following.

The Basij have a record of involvement in many cases of human rights abuses e. .g. shooting into crowds, beating people, destroying private property and raiding universities. Se my other videos!
