Tim, It is important to understand that the style behind Willie's playing is that he is basically making the guitar talk. That is the secret. Play like your talkin'. Keep in mind, that the way you talk will reflect your inner emotions which will shine through, if you are honest with yourself. Unless you know real deep heartache, it is difficult to express it in words, let alone tablature and deliverance.
Because heartaches exists in every generation, Willie's been able to connect with the fans.
