December 1973...I was 14 years old and heartbroken over the first girl I ever loved....to this day when I hear this song I feel what I felt then & there...

lights on all the christmas tree's burned out.. this metaphor is so cool - isn't it?

Saw the "some girl's" tour in Oakland, so the stone's and California are etched in my youth and memory. They are not called the greatest Rock-n-roll band for nothing!

Very good response. It could have been written by me. Our Colonial cousins will never be able to grasp the finer points of the English language. Indeed, punctuation, spelling, syntax and grammar go straight over their (empty) heads.

You are also quite correct in asserting that the GREAT Mick Taylor has never been known as "Mickey".

    Kind Regards.

Would that be AN informed Canadian? He was never known as either Micky or Mickey. I do know my Stones history very well thank you very much, certainly don't need lessons from a Yank .. and yes, you're Canadian - I get it - like, the Yanks take the piss out of you lot like we do the Irish - rightly or wrongly. Worse than a yank then. As I said - explains it all .. you "American" types are so easy to wind up .. bite every single time!

I am in fact a informed Canadian. I suggest before you make derogatory comments you know your facts.

Mick or " Mickey" Taylor lead guitarist with the stones from 1969–74.

Credited to singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, "Winter" is likely the work of Jagger and the Stones' lead guitarist at the time, Mick Taylor. It was the first song recorded for the album and does not feature Richards at all.
