After weeks of violent protests and the slaying of a popular Union leader, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy says the worst of Guadeloupe's unrest is over.
But masked demonstrators are still blocking the Carribean nation's main highway, and employers are still in negotiations with striking workers.
Sebastian Walker reports from Guadeloupe.
