Nice idea, but ottivaeey seems right, i guess that the energy absorb in gyroscope effect of each individual wheels reduce the general rotation, and the rotation inself maybe reduce the energy taken by the individual wheels.
I hope that you can make a real prototype one day, and prove that we are wrong.. really good luck Good idea.

I love this. I love solutions. Yes, let's brainstorm solutions ... take the best ideas and run with them.
We can do it! Thanks for the video.

J’ai mieux, puisque pas dépendant de courant d'air.

Damn, you need to be rocket scientist to make a wind turbine.

Can someone please tell me what do those forumals mean?

Remove the flat circular disks that hold the fins. Extra weight wastes energy. Secure the fins to the pole. Use less fins maybe 3 or 4. At a certain point the energy wasted in fin weight is more than the energy gained by an extra fin. I think you have too many on each section. If you used 4 fins per section instead of 8 and just doubled the sections the power created would be much higher than this design. Also no need for the whole object to rotate it already generates energy from all sides.

need more real world applications with power output

so?

I have seen tghis design for years, in the little eye-catching signs you see now and then. What's unique about it?

na semplice savonius non vero ???
ciao
Your design has flawed and will hardly turn. You shouldn't make it turn because the smaller turbines have gyro effect. If you oppose the gyro forces by making it turn, you will lose so much energy. The design also takes so much space. Just make it simple, don't make it turnable, add skirts at the little flap edges to block wind.

That it turns is a given, i haven't videos to demonstrate it at the moment, but i will upload soon a video made indoor with an older version of gyromag.
I saw a project about something called flettner turbine, it gives spin to 2 cilinders and it takes energy by the rotation of them around the orizzontal axis. What would happen if the spin is simply given by shape and shutters? Gyromag gives the answer.
I don't know if my gyromag has a good efficiency, by the way i know that it works.

Cool design.. .But if it's a VAWT, why does it need to pivot?
sjh7132 2 years ago 2
Thank you.
It is not a VAWT, it is a hybrid wind turbine, it has 3 degrees of freedom: spin, 1st rotation around horizontal x axis and 2nd rotation around vertical z axis (but it is necessary only for redirecting the turbine in the wind direction - maybe what you call pivot?).
Spin is generated by the open shutters, 1st rotation by gyroscopic and magnus effect.
The extrapower of this turbine is given by the "self-exalting" process in mixing the 2 most important degrees of freedom.

I explain better.
If it was a simple VAWT (only spin fixed for the vertical axis) it couldn't take advantage of the 1st rotation extra power.
Gyromag is surely more efficient than a VAWT (even if more complicated) because the 1st rotation induces a relative velocity field that acts on the spin.
1st rotation is "free", a rotating body in an airflow always creates a perpendicularly force.
That's why Gyromag needs a pivot sistem.
