My youngest has been doing this on and off for the last year. Is it a sign of autism? I'm getting a little worried.

  • @TheRealVenna Oops! That was supposed to read you SHOULDN'T fear... Sorry about that. Having a child with autism can be challenging. But it can also be extremely rewarding. Each new accomplishment means so much more for them and because everything is straight forward thinking for them, there isn't any faking to get what they want. You will never have to wonder how they feel toward you because they really don't have the capacity to lie. They aren't wired that way.

  • The video quality isn't good enough to see. It also isn't long enough. If you are concerned contact Early Intervention (through your local school district or DHS office) and have him evaluated. There are other things to look at besides 'stimming' behaviors as most everyone stims to some degree. Does he walk on his toes? Does he speak? Does he have violent meltdown tantrums when he seems particularly stressed (social situations do this for my son.) You should fear, find out as early as you can.

  • Even if your child is autistic, the only thing you should fear is cruelty and ignorance of others.
