@burr1aj If I remember correctly, the Red Wings were the biggest surprise of the 1977-78 season. The coach was Bobby Kromm who was lured from the WHA's Winnipeg Jets and the general manager was Ted Lindsay. The team was powered by a pair of youngsters, Dale McCourt and Reed Larson. Unfortunately for them, this was as good as it got.

This is frekin' awesome. Thank you for posting. We could have one this series with a break here or there. By the way, I've been looking for this one highlight from the mid 70's when the Wings were down by a goal against Buffalo and the faceoff deep in our zone with 7 seconds left. We ended up winning the draw and skating down the ice and scoring. Does anyone have it?

This is the last time they were even part way relevant until the early 90s? I'm unclear as to the Red Wings "successes" from 1970-92. I know the major things, but not the little things.
