So, this time I improved a lot since last year. Came in about 3 lbs heavier and much leaner (to the point where I had inch deep cuts in my abs). I competed against two other women who were quite a bit older than me. Here's a link to the pics: http://wwc.photoreflect.com/pr3/ThumbPage.aspx?e=6926396&g=01RS00I10H . I ended-up getting third place, but I still feel good about how I came in. Going to take a couple years off of competing in bodybuilding and move over to powerlifting and/or strongman for a little bit. Then, when I've improved significantly, I shall once again enter another competition and eventually go to nationals, which is my ultimate goal. It may take 3 years, it may take 6---either way, I plan on getting to that level.

  • I have no idea what to look for, but I thought you had second for sure. That's kinda crazy that the other girl got second. Looking good!

  • @jjcraig999 Politics, dude. Sad reality of the sport, but it is what it is. I plan on chewing them up and spitting em out in a couple years, though ;-) That's why I'm taking these next couple of years to really improve. I'm looking forward to it!

  • Jess, can you give us some updated stats/measurements? Will you be posting more pics? Thanks!

  • @Parkview112

Sure, here are my stats as of a few weeks ago before my comp:

    Chest: 38"

    Shoulders: 45"

    Biceps: 14.5"

    Forearms: 11.75-12"

    Calves: 14.75"

    Quads: 23"

    Waist: 32" (I have a thick waist...)

I'll try posting more pics on my facebook page!

  • Thanks you guys! Yeah, I'm stoked about the powerlifting/strongman. Plus, there aren't much politics---you either lift it or you don't! Should be a nice change for a bit. I'll look for your request sportsrounder!

  • woo hoo u go gurl 3rd is cool and i bet you'll do so well powerlifting and strongwoman shows so awesome!

  • Congrats on placing 3rd Jess and all the best to you with the power lifting :)

  • Ur awesome hun! x

  • Well said Jess....Definitely are politics in this sport. You handled yourself very well, which speaks volumes about you. And remember that you compete against yourself first. You made great improvements over last year, coming in 3lbs of muscle heavier, and in better condition. So, you won.........judges, what do they know... :)

  • Dont be discouraged you really should have come in higher in placing! You were leaner and harder If you were in WA state i would use you for my magazine. You looked amazing!

  • Powerlifting...that's my sport! Although I'm a year away from my 1st competition : (

I understand the politics which is why I chose PL, you're judged by your Strength not your anatomy. I'd be pissed to work my A** off & have some judge tell me my look isn't in this season! That's why I PL. Good luck to ya w/ your new plan!

  • congrats! keep at it!
