Some people may say that this kind of stuff happens in all societies, however, in the mainstream, a woman has more of a chance and is not trapped in quite the same way as is in the closed society of the Amish... I've actually heard that there is a lot of abuse going on... I don't think their goal of separating from society to become closer to God is working.

Abuse is everywhere and not only amongst the Amish. It is wrong to single out the Amish as either better or worse than the outside world.

You are very brave to come on here and to tell the truth about what happened to you. I think we non-Amish tend to see Amish life as idyllic but in fact, the Amish community has some of the same problems as the English community.

Yes, that is the way ordnung is within our Amish Culture.
It does not matter if you were raped or not if you are pregnant you will have to get married to whom ever got you pregnant.
