Lol, it is unbearable that so many people actually believe in God and "heaven"! You are just part of an ancient scam, they just based all that crap on stories and fail explainations about how life came to be. :^) Sorry I wrote this here, it was not the right forum.

my dad was diagnosed a few days ago, he always jokes around about it, but laughing at it with him really makes him feel alot better, the same with my boyfriends dad. and to be honest, laughing about it with them really makes us (me and my bf) feel better better about it too. i really hope they find a cure, for my loved ones and everyone else in the world =]

I disagree about making it worse. Usually when I told people I had cancer, there was nothing they could do to hide their true feelings of sadness and pity. I was truly grateful for the people who (like me) could get past how serious the situation was and laugh about it.
However you are right that it may not always be appropriate. Sometimes you just need a hug. Sensitivity is definitely key.
