@wwDevichan Well, I read it already and I'm done commenting. Why do you people reply to comments that's been posted a year ago? For God's sake, I even forgot I watched this video. I don't even remember exactly why I wrote what I wrote but I sure as hell know that I must have had a darn good reason. Now if you will excuse me, I've got a life to live.

@wwDevichan The government of course not all the people living there. Duuhh.

there's no win the olympics and go to the gulags...RIDICULOUS! its train to win or quit the competitve gymnastics and train as an amateur just for yourself, as a workout. That's the last thing he says to her. It's a lot to translate but he is being very kind and soft with her.
There was nothing wrong with that system. If you want you go if you don't want you quit. After I injured my back I was told - sorry can't compete but if you love the sport go train with a group your age....

Wow that coach is very cruel. Look at his face!! He's like train, train harder or I'll kill you!! The doctor's were pressured by the soviet union to take off Yelena's cast before her leg healed properly. She said later on that the accident could have been foreseen. It was inevitable. When she broke her neck the first thing she thought was Thank God now I don't have to go to the olympics. She even blamed herself for not saying no to doing the Thomas salto. Very very sad!! She was world class!!

Can anyone give a proper translation to the first part? Where they are having the conversation? I think people want a real translation not a "Win an olympic medal or you shall be sent to the Gulags" kinda crap...

he says that she has to try more, and if she doesnt there is no perfection. he says that if she wants to cry sometimes, she can but he would schedule days for that. also he says that she is tired of seeing him probably, and when she is too tired she doesn't do everything she did on the morning practice in the afternoons.
Klimenko doesn't come across as being particularly cruel, but the Communist system was entirely too harsh. I blame the Soviet government--and Titov for sweeping the whole thing under the rug, far more than Klimenko.

However, since this happened, Russia hasn't been as successful.
