What a vulgarity in all this. Americans don't understand anything to french court at Louis XIV's time. They believe Versailles was Las Vegas... To see Louis XIV, whose majesty, elegance, urbanity, dazed all his contemporaries, french or foreigners, being depicted like that, as a loutish redneck "nouveau riche"... Not a single thing is true in this scene. Not even the costumes... It's just total crap.

No I meant a rubbish depiction. As the king he was also the first gentleman of his kingdom and would not have behaved like that.
