-
cheap setup...and a bad music taste.

Nice setup, but upgrade your mixer!

Thanks Jam-E-D. Overall I still think I'm gonna get one to start off with.

Hmm, harsh yet fair comment in terms of a cheap setup, although I would use the phrase "good value" as the equipment I have here allows me to produce mixes akin to those who have spent much more. Not all of us have loads to spend on equipment. In fact, the TTX decks (which I would argue are the best around), were only afforded due to being mispriced in a shop! Bargain! As for music taste, each to their own... but you don't know my taste in music, you are only hearing one song here! Thanks.

can you program buttons to use as your own sound effects/ samples. i.e a machine gun...

You can technically midi map the BCD3000 with anything - there are some maps around on the internet which programme it with other software (such as Numark Cue) - but I currently only use it with Traktor 3 LE (Light Edition) so adding sound sample stabs etc is a limited feature. This could be done using the FX module at the top of the BCD3000 tho I am sure.

do u like scratching with the bcd3000 or is it just alright?

The scratching on it is pretty poor to be honest, I would not suggest using it for that. For basic beatmatching, loops and general mixing it is quite good. But this is why I have it as part of my set up and not the be all and end all - i use my TTXs for scratching and they are superb in terms of stability and torque. Thanks for the comment.
