On Oct. 25, protesters angered by the Oakland Police Department's 4 a.m. raid on the Occupy Oakland encampment took to the streets. Police used teargas, flash grenades, and flew helicopters overhead in efforts to control the crowd. The march scattered and reconvened on several occasions following warnings that they would be arrested and teargas disbursements, but the demonstration continued well into the night. Some activists in the crowd hurled objects at police. The protesters vowed that each day at 6 p.m., they would continue to return to Frank Ogawa Plaza, renamed Oscar Grant Plaza by activists in memory of a police shooting victim. The job of the police is to get criminals. The banksters acted illegally and no one was arrested. Thus you cannot say that the police are doing their jobs.
We live in a world where police protects criminals against the people. The "I was just following orders" don't cut it any more.
