In January 2005, a group of parents decided to try to ban a book from the curriculum in my school district. Students and teachers rallied quickly to counteract the ban at a school board meeting. This was my speech.
In the end, the school board decided to keep the book in the curriculum with a letter being sent home to parents telling them they could opt their children out of reading it if they felt certain content was objectionable.

It starts off with a few books being banned. Next thing you know police will just be allowed to ask for your I.D if they think you are an illegal immigrant...oh wait a moment I best not go live in Arizona.
