  • In terms of risking losing your audience - although in Sylvian's case at the time there weren't too many to lose! - Blemish has to be up there with Lou Reed's Metal machine music. The big difference being that rather than causing tinnitus, repeated listening to Blemish unveils a record that whilst conceding nothing to anyone in its hugely experimental nature, is actually not too far behind his very best work. I'd never have believed after my 1st listen that I'd eventually come to think this way.
