Dr. Eric Bernstein talks about the mild chemical peels that are widely used today. http://www.chemicalpeel.org/alphahydroxy.aspx

Currently, some of the most widely used chemical peels are alpha-hydroxy acid, citric acid and glycolic acid peels. These mild "peels" are actually more of a skin treatment than a skin peel. They do not peel away the skin like stronger peels do so there is almost no recovery time associated with mild peels this makes them effective as a "lunchtime" skin rejuvenation treatment.

Dr. Bernstein also cautions to be sure a peel is completely neutralized after the treatment because even though these are mild peels they can still damage the skin if used improperly.
