Congratulations,
I am vegan and had an all vegan pregnancy with a happy, healthy boy as a result! He's always been healthy and stronger, taller and brighter than most of his classmates.
It can be done and done very healthily, so please don't listen to your doctors when they say you should eat meat, it's completely untrue! Find a vegetarian friendly doctor in your area (check with your local vegetarian organisation).
I wish you all the best!!!!! :)

i'm not sure if this has been mentioned but you do NOT have to eat meat while pregnant. think of just this: devout hindus in india who have never eaten meat in their entire lives yet had no problem whatsoever reproducing.. eating whole foods and such.. for generations and generations! a vegetarian society which has survived for eons!

Doctors are not nutritionists. I would consult with a nutritionist to get the proper advice. My personal gyno didn't even know what a vegan was when I told her I was vegan. Good luck to you no matter what you decide!

I'm sure by now, you know that your doctor was wrong- and believed many myths about vegan nutrition during pregnancy. I have educated myself on the subject just in case I decide to have chiildren a few years from now. Make sure you talk to registered dieticians; not doctors in other fields for this kind of advice. I'm fuming about how ignorant your doctor is. Urgh!

Doctors once told us that smoking was good for u. Do what makes u feel good. I know a few vegan mothers that give birth to have very healthy babies. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE research on vegan pregnancies. I honestly think the animal protein with all that hormones n chemicals is much worse!

It's not true, doctors are not nutritionalists, you can find all the complete proteins in the vegan world too! Hemp, quinoa, all these things! quinoa has more protein pound for pound than beef! It's really too bad. veganism IS regular eating. It's a complete myth about the animal protein. You can get all your B12 and iron and calcium and EVERYTHING from a vegan diet, it's an awful shame. Uneducated doctors.

omg you look amazing....
i love it...

"The China Study" by T. Collin Campbell...you will find it quite applicable to the topic of protein and health.

See if you can find raw unpasteurized milk in your area for complete protein which won't contain all the toxins found in meat, chicken and pasteurized milk products. Also goji berries are a complete protein. You can eat a variety of hemp seeds, seeds, nuts and leafy greens for protein, while none alone are a complete protein, look to see if a combination of them will make a complete protein. Doctors only recommend meat because they are not nutritionists. Congratulations and good luck.

Hey people. I'm a vegan right now in a non-vegan country (Tirol). To me it looks like people can't get high quality protein from plants. It's sad, but it's true. If you want to look beautiful, you have to eat meat. Umastar16 you look much better and happier now, 'cause you eat meat.

You can get protein from plants, you just have to eat the proper ones. Edamame (soy beans) are delicious, tofu is as well. You can also get some protein, iron, and calcium from leafy greens. I look healthier when I'm Vegan than I do when I'm eating meat, which is why once my morning sickness stops I'll be going back to Vegan.

Furthermore, when you choose to attack a person's lifestyle without being able to aptly back it up with facts from reliable sources, it makes you look like an idiot. Followed with poor grammar and sentence structure, it completely nullifies any opinion you may try to express and takes away your credibility.

Wow, please don't fight. There is absolutely nothing wrong with living a Vegan or non-Vegan lifestyle. There is no right or wrong way of life. Each lifestyle has pros and cons, and it is an individual decision that each person is entitled to make.
