To be honest it was the audience member that made herself look stupid yelling out like that, francis, like him or not, is 100% right. No matter how much you don't want to hear it. Some people (left-wing) simply want to bury their heads in the sand and continue to blame Thatcher for the worlds ills!

@sopranosfan87 It's not, the deficit was caused by labour, who were in government for the last 10 years. They chose to bail out the banks, as well as 'buying' votes by borrowing for unaffordable policies.

if labour caused the deficit, then can francis maude explain why his government supported borrowing for investment before the the banking crisis, and also why are many other countries around the world having to tackle deficits and tackle unemployment (many of them have bigger unemployment than we do), the answer is 'he cant' because this was a world recession caused by the banks and so many countries have the same problems, to say labour caused the deficit is total lies
