Scary stuff! I collect antique things with the old pledge on it so I can show people the way it was. I have hand fans ,post cards,cookie tins, book marks and school posters with all of the earlier pledges on them.it was changed more than once...but nothing like changing it to the prayer that it is now! It was powerful words at one time! "One Nation Indivisable"....

@MrJackstuff You should post a video and show off all your stuff that would be really awesome. I call the current pledge the christian pledge, but you're right it's a prayer and should be called such since it invokes supernatural entities.

Ever since I was a kid even when I was a christian, I didn't think that part of the pledge made much sense. "one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all." I'd always ask myself how is there justice for all if we are under a God?

There is no reference to a specific religion anywhere in the country, but respect for God overall, as a government (like Venezuela and Chavez) does not give you basic rights, the Constitution does, which is not a person, like Obama or Bush, but you and I and your neighbors. It is mutual respect for natural laws that we don't create, and can't give or take. This is the only country in the world where there is justice for all, because we are not bound by man or party

Both of my siblings are also of those beliefs...but there was that union card carrying ,liberal democrat milkman. I wonder?
