The New Cambridge to St Ives Guided Busway in operation in its first week open to the public. Overdue, Overbudget and involving the destruction of a perfectly good railway line, but worth a visit to look at at the expense of local taxpayers !

Problems noted from my visit were bunching of buses ( see video ) , the fact that the lights at junctions are not forced to green in advance by the buses, meaning they have to stop at most of them whilst they change, and also the high seat backs in the buses meaning the only thing you see if not in the front seat of the double deckers is the back of the seat in front.

It makes for a nice walk though ! I think !

  • Remember West Midlands Trackline 65? I guess this will go the same way1

  • All very clever. But two things; what happens when one of the bogey arms breaks! And why have the bus companys cut loads of services, ie no services to Somersham after 4.30 on a saturday?
