@Wolfsrawesom This is completely correct but notice that there are many famous trombone players e.g. Clifton Anderson who plays that "style". And he plays veeery well! I wouldnt say "listen and repeat" because that is not the actual way to play the trombone but as you can see, it is not that important how you play an instrument as long as you can improve yourself steadily. Ha! In Concert Band, our director tell the trumpets, trombones and french horns to NOT puff out their cheeks, and the dude at 2:24 is doing just that. Come on, you can play better.

Here's a good example of laying back in the pocket:
A slightly different arrangement, but close enough for comparison purposes; you guys could play it like them, it's more about developing a common "Zeitgefuehl" than pure technical musicianship.

Good musicianship, and nice to see a bunch of relative youngsters on the bandstand.
Tempo is fine, but I'd you guys do need to "lay in the pocket" a bit, you guys are playing Basie the way an American might speak Swiss German; might be the right words, but there's something slightly wrong about it.
The "pocket laying" is the key to creating tension in these slower Basie charts, without it, they don;t have much going on!
Good basic chops, keep it up!

SLOW DOWN, guys!! Gotta get IN the pocket before you can get OUT!. Plus, it'll give you more time to find the correct notes! :-)
