Ben Folds Live at House Of Blues Houston Saturday May 5th, 2010 performing "Too Late." This song is a written in dedication to Elliott Smith another great singer/songwriter who has passed.

Overall the concert was very lame. Song set was JUST okay. Folds never connected with the audience and never went so far as to thank the audience for coming out. I'm a big Fold's fan and this was my first concert so maybe I just caught him on a bad night. He never performed ANY of his kooky covers nor did he sing "Brick." VERY DISAPPOINTING!

  • Youre certainly entitled to your opinion, but I disagree completely. Ive seen Ben four times, including once with the Folds Five, and this was the best show so far. Judging from your comment on Brick, Id assume youre a casual fan/BFF fan only. Brick was a huge hit with heavy subject matter, and he wont play it live very often. His setlists on this tour have been varied, and we got a good mix of solo and BFF (kate, one angry dwarf, video, dont change your plans, army, stevens last night in town).

  • @tonightwedancexxx I would say I am much more than a casual fan. I do own most if not all of his material. This was my first show of his and had been waiting to see him for over 10 years. I became a fan when I heard Brick back in 1998 then went back and got his older stuff of his. From there I never stopped being a fan after college. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I did stay to the end only because I kept wanting to hear other tunes. I am just from the persuasion he should always play

  • @tonightwedancexxx fan favorites and then whatever else tickles his fancy. I believe Brick does have a serious subject matter but I also believe many people there were disappointed not to hear it because it is very much a fan favorite. I have no idea where you were during the performance but the audience near me was far from respectful. A guy told some girls to "shut the h*ll up" during Luckiest. Watch my other video and listen closely. I some how must have missed him being gracious at the end.

  • I went to this show and his show the night before in Austin (on my birthday! woo!) and I actually thought he did really, really well at this show. I was glad that he played "Video" and "Don't Change Your Plans" because it just seemed like something he wouldn't play. I wasn't disappointed with him at all. I was, however, disappointed with the crowd. But I suppose there will always be those people. I can't WAIT until he tours again... And for the Foldsby album in September. GO BEN!

  • i was on the floor next to the stage. sorry to hear about the people near you. there are rude drunken people at every show though, regardless of the artist. concerning brick, in the four times ive seen ben, he has never played it. of course what constitutes a 'fan favorite' is a matter of opinion. he did take requests, and played plenty of songs that held some level of familiarity (judging by the folks all around me singing). I knew every song, but I admittedly own all his cds.

  • such an awesome show! thanks for the post!!

  • btw, he did thank the crowd profusely at the end of the night. he also played a weird 'texas' song (I assume a cover) and shared many stories with the audience. curious to know if you stayed until the very end? i noticed alot of people left after the first encore thinking it was over. the house of blues had the lights up, and turned them down again when he played 'one angry dwarf'. wish they filmed the show professionally, as the show was far better than any of his dvd releases.

  • each show ive seen him take requests, and hes very liberal with song selections. there was actually no new material during this show (at least none that i recall). he played for two solid hours, and did two seperate encores (with a second drum solo). the crowd was deafening and very appreciative during this sold out show. id say he went above and beyond what we expected. that being said, im just happy to see him do his thing. anyhow, thanks for posting this video.
