Someone at JJ identified me as a Kitemaster (Mendez). My uncles in Trinidad were well known for their kite fighting abilities. My uncles called me Pao because they tried to tried to pass on the skill, but I was too hasty and used too much flour in my paste-like I was trying to make a steam bun! (bao or pao).
The kite tradition is ancient in many parts of the world. I decided that I really wanted to go fly a kite, traditionally speaking!
Then along came Fredlocks Asher, bearer of the Jamaican kite tradition, with the hexagonal rizzibbing and the bizzamboo aeronautics, yo. The rest is a documentary in progress. This is a little teaser from the first day of shooting. Enjoy!
