Sinatra zaśpiewał po polsku... - Ever Homeward/Powrót

W 1947 roku Frank Sinatra odegrał rolę księdza w filmie "The Miracle of the Bells". W filmie wykonywany jest utwór "Ever Homeward", angielska wersja starej polskiej piosenki ""Powrót" Kazimierza Lubomirskiego. Później, 8 grudnia 1947 Sinatra nagrał tę piosenkę z orkiestrą Axel Stordahl dla wytwórni Columbia Records. W tym nagraniu Sinatra śpiewał ją zarówno w języku angielskim, jak i polskim.
W styczniu 1982 r. w czasie stanu wojennego zaśpiewał ją także w amerykańskiej telewizji w programie " "Let Poland Be Poland" (Niech Polska będzie Polską). Posłuchajcie...

In 1947, Frank Sinatra played the role of a priest in the movie "The Miracle Of The Bells". In the movie is a song "Ever Homeward". This song is an English adaption of the Polish traditional song "Powrót" by Kazimierz Lubomirski. On 8 December 1947 Sinatra also made a recording of the song "Ever Homeward" with an orchestra conducted by Axel Stordahl for his record label Columbia Records. In in this recording, Sinatra sings one refrain in English language and one in Polish language.
In January 1982, he sang it in the American television program "Let Poland Be Poland". Listen....

Rzeczywiście piękna. Nigdy jej wcześniej nie słyszałem. Frank Sinatra to prawdziwa legenda. W życiu do głowy by mi nie przyszło, że tak pięknie potrafił śpiewać po polsku. :-)

A gentleman , a warm voice, met him once in Israel, in early 1960's , he sang for soldeirs, and it so happened ,he came to dinner, in the house where I was a nanny to the children of the Comander of that armey base. I was very shy, sat in my room reading, he was taken to see the house, he saw me, and his face lighted with that delightful smill, with his greeting - SHALOM! How are you? My bos answered and preised me- "She is going to be a soldier very soon".
