congratulations!
i try to breed keyholes for some years, but i could never leave the eggs with the parents, they (different parents) always watched for 1-2 days, then came into stress and ate them.
all my fish-collegues here in Austria made similar experiences. maybe our fish were bred "parentless" over some generations. my tank contains 350 liters and a lot of plants an wooden shelters, no other cichlids in there.
kind regards from vienna , mike

The small plants in the foreground are Cryptocoryne parva. Mixed in is Java moss. The taller grass-like plant in the background is Blyxa japonica.

Thanks for the comment. I have been trying to breed keholes off and on for over 20 years. In the past, they would eat the eggs. or the newly hatched fry. Keeping the light on can help. That was not necessary this time for me. My current pair of adults are terrific parents and are still taking care of the babies which are 2 months old.

I didnt do anything special to raise the fry. The tank is large and has several areas of the substrate that contain small rocks covered with java moss. The babies were constantly grazing over those areas which evidently were covered with live food. When they got to the 6-8 week size, used TetraMin tablet food. They like to eat near the bottom under the protection of their constantly guarding parents. If i provided better food, i would likely have more than the 2 dozen remaining young.
