Southampton Common ponds.

1976 had a very bad drought.The upper left pond which was home to Tench,Cruscian Carp and Pike [to name just 3] and a tremendous number of frogs, toads and newts as well as an amazing collection of pond life in the deep primordial mud was drying up.The resident adult pike had a tremendous number of babies.I decided to "rescue" 1 and placed him in my aquarium at home.In 18 months he had out-grown the aquarium so I returned him to the pond.
I just wondered if the pond still supports such a collection of aquatic life.The cruscian carp were the most perfect specimens I have seen.From the side, they had a nearly perfect square profile.The goldfish is supposed to be closest to this carp.

I have linked this video to "So Simple The Cat can Do It" because this was the pond I had been to on that day [I think I was about 10 years old at the time] which would make it 1962. I don't know if aquarist society events are so well attended these days as I have been working overseas for many years.But the people hosting that event were so enthusiastic about the hobby and explain to visitors the various types of aquatic life that could be could be supported I was "hooked".
As the "Romaurie Effect" was developed in Eilat on the Red Sea where I have been employed in the refrigeration/air-conditioning industry since 1986, I finally made an attempt to join the 2 main "Aquatic Forums" in Israel.One of the forums informed me that not only do they not understand the point of a tunnel or any vacuumed/bottomless aquarium, but they have blocked my account! Quite frankly I am astounded.I know some folk have a problem understanding the principle, but this is the only forum in the world that has blocked this.
I worked really hard translating the original English text into Hebrew and due to one person who claims to be connected with the management of the forum my account is blocked.
