Over the 2000 Melbourne Cup weekend, Steamrail operated a weekend tour to Robinvale in the north of the state with steam locomotives K190 and D3 639. I chased the down special on the Saturday morning as far as Maryborough.

The video starts with several shots of the locos struggling up the 1 in 48 Ingliston bank followed by shots at the down end of Bank Box Loop, Ballan, North Creswick and Maryborough.

  • @Rocketboy1950 Should be Big Hill Tunnel. One letter makes all the difference lol.

  • I would have thought that they were well under their scheduled load for Ingliston; what went wrong.

  • @K1571 Bill hill tunnel ?

  • Wonderful!! ... jmarcos18..BRASIL

  • Nice video! Thanks for sharing.

  • It proved to be a struggle the whole weekend. Lost 2 hours on the bank and never really made it up as it also stalled at Bill Hill tunnel on the Monday.
