Guess What's Roasting on an Open Fire?

From his Christmas musical 'Hardscrabble Road"....Christmas is the worst time of the year for the homeless. Guess what's roasting on an open fire/ Road Kill's good if you hold your nose/ living in a dumpster behind Canadian Tire, trying to keep warm in Value VIllage Clothes/ Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe, would help to keep the season bright/ but those are things these tiny tots will never know, they don't even have a place to sleep tonight. They know that Santa's on his way/ but they won't get the toys and goodies from his sleigh/ and every mother's child just wants to cry/ and wonder what reindeer tastes like fried/ And so I'm offering this simple toast, cuz I've been unemployed since 2003- Although it's been said many times many ways, Merry Christmas, screw you!
