Reporter (Ange): Hi welcome to TLC and this is a Baby Story

Tonight's feature program is about a woman named Christina Atkinson and her 9 month journey of the prenatal growth of her baby boy Frankenstein.

Lets head over to Dr. Wilson to observe how she was doing during her Zygotic period which is the time period of conception to the first week.

Dr. Wilson (Britt): Good morning Mrs. Atkinson..How are you doing? How are you feeling today?

Mrs. Atkinson (Chris): Good, however I did happen to notice that my "thing" (wink) didn't come..ya know doc?

Dr. Wilson: Alright well you're at the right place and we'll check you out and see if you are indeed in your zygotic period..

(walk out then walk back in)

--Well Mrs. Atkinson, you are pregnant and you are now in your zygotic period..meaning a mature sperm and your ovum have united and created a zygote, which is a fertilized egg with 46 chromosomes.

So we are going to have you come back in a month for your next check up..Sound good?

Mrs. Atkinson: yeah, just a little nervous..but very excited..see you in a month doc

Reporter: A month has passed now, and Mrs. Atkinson is now in her Embryonic period..At this time the baby is further developing in the womb and the cell layers of the zygote become differentiated. Let's head over to the doctor's office to see Mrs. Atkinson's Progress

Dr. Wilson: welcome back Mrs. Atkinson..how are you feeling?

Mrs. Atkinson: I am feeling great, it has been a little over a month since I last saw you..tell me how my baby is developing

Dr. Wilson: Ok well at this point you are in the Embryonic period which lasts from your 2nd week to 2nd month of your prenatal growth. The cells are continuing to develop and begin to form the different systems for you baby. It is this new period of prenatal growth that marks the end of the zygote and the embryo starts to form.

Mrs. Atkinson: Systems? Like what?

Dr. Wilson: Systems such as the Digestive, Muscular, Central Nervous systems, though there are many more. Also, the skin, hair, and nails are starting to grow. This period is a very crucial period of pregnancy because of all of this and is highly sensitive, so your going to want to take care of yourself such as eating right and staying healthy!

Mrs. Atkinson: Wow this is a big responsibility! I think I'm up to it though doc!

Dr. Wilson: Great, well come back in a month or two for another appointment and we can check to progress of your baby!

Mrs. Atkinson: See you then..

Reporter: Now Mrs. Atkinson is in the Early Fetal Period which is a period of rapid birth for the fetus. It has been 4 months since we have seen Mrs. Atkinson and we can see that she has started to grow a baby bump! Lets see how she is...

Dr. Wilson: Wow you've gotten big! Must be coming along well in the Early Fetal Period, this period last from your third to sixth month of prenatal growth. Lets take a look (sonagram thing).

(Insert dialog about questioning what is on the sonogram screne)

Your baby is gowing fast! Vital organs and crutial parts such as teeth are starting to form, soon you should start to feel some movement from your baby!

Mrs. Atkinson: OH! I just felt it! It's gunna be a soccer player!

Dr. Wilson: Haha well everything looks great so come back in another 2 - 3 months when your in the Later Fetal Period to check on how its going!

Mrs. Atkinson: See you then!

Reporter: Now Christina is in the Later Fetal Period which is the home stretch of prenatal growth till birth! Lets see how shes doing..

Dr. Wilson: Your huge! Looks like its gunna be one healthy baby!

Mrs. Atkinson: Yeah I'm starting to feel it in my lower back.

Dr. Wilson: Yes well that is expected, in the Later Fetal period because the the fetus is tripling in weight! Only two more months until pregnancy.
(Sonogram stuff)

Mrs. Atkinson: Whats going on in there?
