Ever wondered where New Braunfels came from and why its called City of a Prince? At the Sophienburg Museum, youll find an authentic reproduction of the ship, complete with actual lugguage, that brought Prince Solms and his crew over from Germany. Take a stroll down a reproduction of New Braunfels first downtown and youll see why New Braunfels was the fourth largest city in Texas by 1850.

  • My forefather was Anton Pieper, one of Prince Solm's Troop of 20 Men who helped found New Braunfels and a Citizen of the Republic of Texas. I love the Sophienburg!!
