it sucks..... Tarja owned this song, it was built around her voice.... this girl has no business singing this song or any of the ones that were produced for Tarja's voice ... I am truly appalled.

I know what you mean. I have another against Anette and I also think she did pretty good here. But like you, I think Sleeping Sun is just one of Tarja's songs that should remain untouchable. It's her signature song, like Swanheart. Signature songs that portray her deep, rich, passionate voice.

One other thing I noticed is that they took out the orchestral part in the middle of the song, where Tuomas replaced it with some tinny piano then the song goes right into Emppu's solo.
It's not as good for that reason, PLUS it's missing the overall beauty that it once had.

At least she seems to stay in tune for this song. Unfortunately, it just doesn't have the same impact as it used to with Tarja, it's missing something.
If I had never heard the song before, I'd have nothing negative to say about it, I just wouldn't like the song that much.
But knowing that is used to be a GREAT song, it's kind of sad that it won't ever be performed how it USED to be performed. It's a loss for the world.

that's the point. its not tarja. its not supposed to be. i for one am glad she sounds nothing like tarja. it shows that nightwish is not a slave to genre. if you dont like this, go listen to the old version while the rest of us go see nightwish live. which is amazing, i might add.
