I like to equip Quina with the Ribbon, Steiner with the Diamond Gloves and Auto-Life, Freya with the Diamond Gloves and Zidane with the Coronet - this way you will always have three characters alive if Nova Dragon uses Aerial Slash or Water Wave as the first attack.
Sure, Quina will be healed and won't react to Charge!, but who cares, his attack is extremely weak anyway.
