oh my god, this video has the big top playing at the beginning. to be honest, the entire opening of the film would not be as effective without it.

It is clearly the better film in my mind. You will see Pulp higher on all these superficial lists because it is more of a seminal picture and it cast a wider net in terms of influence (it's probably fair to say that the Boogie script would never have been bought if not for Pulp). BN has all the style, humor and quotability of PF, but with far more depth of character and stronger metaphors. A story about porn actors was just never going to be all that accessible to a huge audience.
