Has Philippine Independence Day totally lost its significance? Not so...unknown to many...there is a small advocacy group trying to enhance patriotic awareness by propagating reverence to the Filipino flag.
The flag waving project hopes to start a new Filipino culture. " A Flag Culture"
More than 2000 School-Children in Manila proudly waved the Filipino flag for almost 3 minutes while singing "Bayan Ko"/"My Country", a stirring patriotic song .
2300 flaglets, 40 nylon flags were distributed by Flag Society Philippines to instill awareness to our future Filipino generations...the children.
Part of the activity is to inculcate the significance and importance of celebrating Independence Day.
After the flag-waving event...the kids were requested to display the flaglets in front of their home.
FSP will try to hold a larger crowd next year ( for possible June 12, 2008 event).
Volunteer photographers and cameramen from the citizenry will be invited to take part in capturing the patriotic atmosphere.
We have faith that a moving image caption of the school-children can raise the spirit of our oneness as Filipinos and stir the patriotic consciousness of our society.
At this early stage we invite individuals and photography club to heed on our call and offer their skills and expertise to produce a better video footage ( ID-2008)for a cause themed.

We may all wonder when that time arrives.
When progress finally arrive... and we finally realized That it was not just the goverment itself, nor the tax-payers alone, nor what's on the economic drawing board, or policy making bodies, nor businessmen only, or the preachers can, nor OFW's remmitances. Can alone lift the country ... But a collective national Spirit.
But until then. Until it has'nt arrive and we're still working, for our longed cherished dream... A better and united Philippines....then maybe...just maybe...we can simply start... with our FLAG...in creating that spirit.
-Flag Society Philippines
Flag Society Philippines is a non-profit org. It does not ask for cash donation.
