  • The Cynical Fleet incoming to listen to their great leader!

  • Payouts in e-sport and especially with Counter-Strike can be pretty messy. The CPL still owes money to many swedish teams all the way back to the 2004 and 2005 tournaments. That's why big organizations started what they call the G7 with 7 of the biggest organizations teaming up and saying "we will not let out teams attend if previous prizes aren't payed within 30 days". That is essentially what killed the CPL because no one wanted to watch or support a low quality tournament.

  • My god the interviewer sounds so uninterested and bored

  • @TheAmazingUploader G7 like to think they did something but really cpl did what they wanted which for Angel Munoz was to take as much money as he could before they died. The G7 boycott didnt do anything and the CPL most likely made more money off the Sierra deal than it did during anyother year with CS.

  • @MrDogbert So what? They still got shut down by the big organizations and if they hadn't been boycotted by G7 they would have survived. The interest for the tournament was close to zero and the sponsors didn't get their moneys worth in advertisements and CPL didn't make any money. Organizations had already started ti boycott CPL back in 2005 but not as a part of the G7. G7 threatened CPL all the way back in 2009 for the first time.

  • @TheAmazingUploader Before the G7 said or did anything CPL had sold its game list to games to Sierra which is why at the start of 2007 CPL Tour they did World in Conflict and Fear 1v1.

  • Is that young guy Jesse?

  • Yes they did. If you are just a little bit knowledgeable about Counter-Strike e-sport history you should know that they threatened CPL with non attendance (in 2007) if they didn't pay previously owed prize money. G7 knew that CPL had plans to have CS:Source that year and that if they refused to attend then no one would support CPL because of CS:Source. The G7 teams didn't attend and CPL didn't make any money. Angel Muñoz declared bankruptcy in 2008 and later sold the company.

  • @TheAmazingUploader G7 had nothing to do with cpl coming to an end.

  • most disinterested, boring interviewer ever?

  • @RyanCostello1000 Naniwa actually posted in the TL SCi4 thread saying that he would be quite interested in taking part.

  • how were the viewerstats exactly? (concurrent, max, avg etc)
