Got the new gear setup. Traded an Ensoniq EPS for a Ensoniq ESQ-1 on Craigslist. Also scored on a pick-up of a few rackmount units. I was just jamming last night on the new setup.

Complete with missed notes and mess-ups, here is the short jam session.

Boss DR-202 and Korg ER-1 - Drums and Bass
Ensoniq ESQ-1 - Fender Rhodes type keys
MicroKorg - Long Pads
Roland MKS-30 - Sweeps and Pads
Yamaha TX81Z - Piano
Akai MPC 2000XL - MIDI recording and sequencing, Live track mute play

  • hello friend, what is the difference betwen thr dr. 202 and the MPC 2000XL?

  • @Loetrumpet The DR-202 is a MIDI sound module with drum ktis, and bass sounds as well as a built in sequencer. The MPC is a sampler, but also a sequencing workstation. Think of the MPC as your computer and the DR-202 as a VST.

  • I have an ESQ-1. Any chance of getting some parameters for that Rhodes patch? Love the feel of this one. Chris

  • @ChrisSousa9 I'm going to put up a video of the parameters soon. been away from youtube for awhile

  • Smooth. Im trying to learn cord progression. any tips?

  • @bigdru76 google "Virtual Piano Scales" and click the first link, it's really nice to see the scales/chords layed out in the key you want to play in. From there you just have to mix and match to find what you like. Good Luck!

  • Hey great stuff...have any advice for programming a good fender rhodes patch on the ESQ 1?

  • Thanks for posting this, created using the Yamaha TX81Z & the Ensoniq ESQ-1 - cool synths. The producer Babyface at one point had two TX81Z units in his studio, both of which he kept set to a bass patch, one detuned from the other. This became a part of his signature sound. The best synth patches for both these classic synths can be found at manymidi.com

  • that`s one sweet pile of gear you got there
