Thank you for the many postings of Ms. Verrett. I miss her so much. She was and still is a great inspiration to me. What a great artist, fabulous lady and very kind human being!!!!!!

Forse è la più bella esecuzione di spirituals da parte di Shirley Verrett, proprio nel suo concerto d'addio, con una intensità artistica e musicale assoluta, anche rispetto alle splendide incisioni giovanili. Sempre, fino all'ultimo, ambiguamente sospesa tra Mezzosoprano e Soprano, in una indecidibilità che era, a mio parere, uno dei motivi di fascino irresistibili della sua voce. E questo, senza parlare della sua anima.

I love you Shirley, where ever your spirit now resides. And I love you Leontyne Price, Kathleen Battle, Jessye Norman, Kiri te Kanawa, Montserrat Caballé & forever, Maria Callas! I thank the heavens for what you songbirds do for my spirit.
