  • This is one of the first Janis Ian tunes that I really "heard" and I love it to this day. I was priviledged enough to hear her sing it at the Troubador in the "Present Company" days. What an insight this youngster had into herself and the lives of others. She is a blessing to us.

  • Very glad you enjoyed it!

    Kathleen

  • Wow...such a prodigy, and such an old soul. Do you know how old she was here?

  • She was 17 .. I also did "Friends Again" on another clip.

    Glad you're enjoying the video!

  • I'll tell ta -- i'm not a hippie. I love punk rock and heavy metal. I don't usually listen to this kind of stuff...but, Janis is bad ass...her stuff has so much emotion, attitude, raw talent; ...seriously this woman is just mega talented. She is completely hellfire kick ass awesome. Even her performances today are stellar.

  • @Bobbipens ...I do not see a hint of the ugly duckling she felt she was or rather what people made her feel she was. A beautiful talent, a beautiful voice, a beautiful face and a beautiful soul..

  • damn. this makes me cry so hard.

  • The female bookend of Robert Zimmerman, a.k.a. Bob Dylan!

    Both from intellectual Jewish families

Janis said her parents were atheist communists and that she was born into it believing in God!

I am a fan for over 40 years and bought 3 of her albums as they came out including Society's Child et al. 'Hair of Spun Gold' was my 2nd favorite song off of her debut LP. I am still looking for it on u2be.

    Thanks for posting Janis' music!

  • What the? I was a teenager then, and I've never heard her before. Checking out her work... so nice to discover Janis. however late!
