Well I remember a interview with CORE and in it Mark 'Mac' Avory siad it was his goal to push the Mega CD to its limits , well with this game he well and truly did . Scaling and rotation all over the place stunning spites and texture map's on the floors and ceilings , all full screen and using the full colour pallet , not a hint of slowdown , full 360 degree movment , I kid you know I've seen Saturn and Playstation games with worse 3D graphics .

Also of note is simply fantastic almost opera like music score Nathan McCree, while I always liked Martin Iveson music more from CORE, this is one of the few times Nathan out classed Martin , thought both were brilliant , and I sadly missed the days of when CORE were this good

  • I think it saldy came out a bit too late inthe Mega CD life time . Had it came out in 1993 it could have been so diff. Saldy when this game came out , all the talk was of the Saturn and Playstation . Shame though this game along with Batman Returns shows what the Mega CD could really do, and it wasn't the hump of junk some love to make it out to be

It is sad ut because I this I decided to go out an buy a Sega CD and I also went ahead and got a 32X. I could not be happier. I got Soul Star and it was a great as I rememberd it! Underrated game and system :(

  • This or the first Star Fox.......

I'll go with this. At least it has more than just shapes.

  • Finally found a copy in mint condition,i bought it on ebay a few minutes ago. Can´t wait for this Mega CD Gem!!! :))))

  • a mi este juego me encanto un juegazo en aquel tiempo, ejejje

  • One of the most impressive games on the SEGA MEGA CD! For sure it pushes MCD to its limits! I love the parts where you are getting closer and closer to the giant planet or spaceship and you see the glorious sprites in full scale!!! =)

  • SUCH AN AMAZING GAME!!! Still looks amazing and plays great after all these years!

  • DAMNED RIGHT! I considered this game's music score the JOHN WILLIAMS quality music score for the mega system. I ripped this game off my game cd and put on a cd and play off my ps3 music player (*you know, with thw earth scenery and stuff!) then later put it on my ipod touch.

Because they sadly don't do Mega CD games

  • Why is this not on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console!?!?

  • Nevertheless, the Mega CD's scaling capabilities finally turned the Mega Drive into the true arcade level home console it should've been from the start.

And BTW, "SuperScaler" might be able to scale lots of sprites, but it can't provide tilted surfaces such as the moon's surface in SoulStar (or even just the tracks in F-Zero for that matter). ;-)
