Is it What's for Dinner? Probably not, but it is definitely a mainstay in many homes around the world. Peanut Butter can be used in many kinds of dishes as well as the basic BP and J sammy. But why is is so expensive for something that is so common? AND, Have you ever looked a the ingredients? Some peanut butter has more than its fair share of sugar or corn syrup as well as hydrogenated oils and some things you can't even pronounce!

So make it yourself! Get some unsalted dry roasted peanuts, some peanut oil, salt and a sweetener of your choice, here I used some brown rice syrup or you could use honey, brown sugar, molasses, agave nectar or even pure maple syrup as a light sweetener. Blend all of these together in your food processor or your heavy duty blender and voila! Homemade peanut butter. Put it in a mason jar and you are good to go. Your kids might just ask for this more than the store bought stuff! The recipe I made yielded 1 quart of peanut butter.

Give this a try, I am certain you will love it. As always, Happy Eating!

  • This recipe isn't healthy at all! I was hoping for some natural peanut butter recipe :( without added sugar or salt.

About agave nectar: this is the worst sweetener in the world! Even if it has a low glycemic index, agave nectar is all fructose, it's like fructose syrup! You people must stay away from this nectar; Google is your friend for more info :)

  • @edygh79 If you want to leave out the sugar and use stevia that is your choice. I make mine the way I want to. You can use Demarrara or Turbinado oragnic sugar. I am giving people choices. Your opinion is that this is not "healthy" however this is much healthier than what is sold in the store. It is an option for those who cannot afford the over priced organic versions. Since I made this video I have learned about the Agave. However it is not all bad.

  • I liked your canola oil joke. It was funny and true XD

  • @MissPonderosa Joke?

  • @atticus9799 'when canola oil is nothing more than an industrial insecticide' Ok..so maybe i see a joke in everything...actually i'll be honest. I skipped a couple of segmants in the vid and happend to come to that moment in time and it seemed like you were being sarcastic but serious at the same time. my bad. Still good vid! I also agree, they put so much crap into food (even fruit and vegs look unnatural these days...I try to stay away from refined carbs & sugars!)

  • @MissPonderosa No worries. I can tend to be a bit on the sarcastic side, but I guess it is my way of helping my viewers to absorb the information. Some people just refuse to believe that our food system is full of poisons and non foods and I believe this is the main reason for the high instance of Type 2 diabetes, child bearing troubles, cancer, autism and ADHD in our country. I think that High Fructose Corn Syrup and GMO foods are the reason for a lot of these problems. Whole foods are best
