MySQL data types do not support the SQL standard WITH TIME ZONE attribute. How do you store times in MySQL to efficiently show your customers times in their own time zone? The TIMESTAMP data type will show different times if you change the servers time zone. This workshop covers all this and more, including all the nuances of using offsets (such as -8:00 to represent Pacific Standard Time as UTC -8 hours) and how to use named time zones (such as US/Eastern). This presentation is a must for anyone who wants to learn the most optimized way to convert a time based on time zone.
