Was it potholes or poor driving that got a Kansas City woman a ticket on Thursday?
The answer depends on whom you ask -- the driver or the police officer.
LaDonna Tabron said she drives the stretch of Holmes Road between Red Bridge and Interstate 435 every day on her way to and from work. Tabron said the road is filled with potholes and that she's cautious about them because of her wheels.
"They're low-profile tires that are lower to the ground than normal tires, and a small bump or any type of bump can cause the tire to deflate or explode," Tabron told KMBC's Peggy Breit.
Tabron said she avoids potholes by driving around them.
And on Thursday, she got pulled over by a police officer at 103rd Street and Holmes Road.
"I said, 'So, I'm being pulled over because I'm avoiding pot holes?' And he said, 'You're being pulled over because you were swerving,'" Tabron said.
The officer also said Tabron was going over the center line and that her license tags expired at the first of June.
Tabron was ticketed for careless driving.
"I think it's ridiculous to be cited for something so ridiculous," Tabron said.
She said she plans to file a formal complaint against the officer who issued her the ticket and to fight the ticket in court.
