Prior to ww2 courtesy of the Great Depression that descended on the worlds economys Germanys auto industry was 1/6 the size of the US auto industry. By 1933' the declining german auto industry was further overtaken with US auto companys General Motors who bought out German automaker Opel and Ford Motor Company who possessed a very successful subsidiary in Germany.

Can you imagine Germany if Hitler had turned to trade rather than war? Germany would have led the world in aircraft and ship design. They were already leading the world in automobile and railway technology and had begun to electrify their railways.Even their motorcycles were the best in the world. people are crazy arent they?

@fluffy1931 Thanks for your information, but actually, I was not arguing that NAZI Germany would have won the war. Per my comment, Hitler's 50th birthday was April 20, 1939, and WWII could have been avoided if he had not become insanely arrogant by that time. His invasion of Poland is one of the long list of crimes that he committed, for which there is no intellectual or moral defense. (Though folks like RAF "Bomber" Harris will spend a long time in Hell, too.)

Of the 322 German Army and SS divisions extant in Nov1943, only 52 were armored or motorized. Of the Nov 1944 total of 264 combat divisions, only 42 were armored or motorized. The great bulk of the German combat strength-the old-type infantry divisions-marched into battle on foot, with their weapons and supply trains propelled almost entirely by four-legged horsepower.

Thanks for uploading this. The ability of Germans to research, develop, and manufacture leading-edge, complex weapons under extremely adverse conditions is most impressive. Too bad that the German leader became essentially insane after his 50th birthday.....Germany could have built a new Europe and avoided World War III, which is coming. A great tragedy. The relegation of Jews and Slavs to subhuman status was criminally insane, too.
