@potsiiscool - Thanks for the link, I'll watch it in a bit. But he may have been 'out' to his friends - I'm sure he wasn't 'officially' out as far as the public goes. I know Danni didn't use any of the offensive language with regard to Danyl (I quite like Dannii and I've defended her to the hilt against the vicious onslaught of Sharon Osbourne on the 'Graham Norton show' clip/board - not that she'll read it!) I was saying I wouldn't blame anyone for not coming out 'officially'.

@aerialkate just found the link (sent you a pm). It's not him personally coming out but it's not speculation either. Just his friends saying that he's been out and happy for a long time. I agree that gay epithets can be harmful but Dannii didn't use any of that. What she said wasn't making fun of him being gay in any way. It was just some tongue and cheek humor gone horribly wrong. To be honest I think you are trying too hard relate your friends situations to this. Maybe I'm wrong...

@potsiiscool - As far as I'm aware he hadn't 'come out' in a magazine interview. There had been an article speculating as to his sexuality - there's a difference. It's up to him to decide if and when he comes out. I've been present when somebody was being viciously assaulted by people shouting homophobic insults - it can be a very dangerous world for gay men (still). I would argue that gay stereotypes and those ugly epithets only serve to humiliate and marginalise gay men.

@aerialkate what do gay stereotypes have to do with being ok talking about your sexuality? Dannii explained it perfectly in her Piers Morgan interview. It was just a joke she said to him backstage and said it on air assuming that everyone already knew he was out (because he, himself, had come out in a magazine interview or something). It just got really awkward because not everyone knew he was out.

The trouble is many 'camp' talk show hosts (Graham Norton, Alan Carr) perpetuate this 'nudge/wink' attitude around homosexuality. They get on TV by fulfilling a safe and acceptable 'pantomime' kind of non threatening version of gay people, frequently playing up to stereotypes and using epithets aimed at gays . Therefore people like Danni genuinely think it's acceptable too - she wouldn't have thought of it as a jibe, I'm sure. Don't perpetuate this kind of crap, boys.
