Caroline Winterer, an associate professor of history at Stanford University, is a curatorial consultant for an exhibit at the National Constitution Center entitled "Ancient Rome in America."

Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Americans emulated ancient Greek and Roman culture. Professor Winterer explores this important American phenomenon in her research.

  • This discussion is fantastic. It was a great experience watching this movie.

  • Will the USA go the same way as AR? Heavy debt, degrading of nature, international over stretch, the value of native labor and products devalued due to influx of cheap labor and products from the far flung areas of the "Empire", etc.? Will we go from a Republic to an Empire in a more formal sense and authoritarian sense of government? Some times asking the right questions are the first step in arriving at the right answers.
