Simple rendition of "Grandfather's Clock"

Banjo#1: Gibson Style 5 walnut New Century with new no hole gold plated Dannick ring.
Banjo#2 Prucha maple top tension maple with copper patina hardware.
Banjo#3: Osborne maple Chief
Banjo#4: Yates Ron Stewart mahogany, with recent rim and ring upgrade.
Banjo#5: OME maple Primrose with Megatone 200 ring
Banjo#6: Deering Sierra mahogany with '06 tone ring

  • To me, the OME (#5) is easily the nicest tone (at least for slow picking). Then maybe the Osborne (#3). Then the Deering (except for fast picking I think this would be the best). 1 and 2 were not too good IMHO. Anyway, nice video for a comparison.

  • That yates is a monster!! The dannick ring sounds good too.

  • Nothing between the Gibson and the Prucha / Osborne is very close... Yates is not up there for me / Ome has a beautiful ring... / You have to admire the Deering, it's so close to the yates for a fraction of the price.
